Description
Montague House is an early 19th-century house located on the north side of Marston Road in Tockwith. It is constructed of red-brown brick in Flemish bond and features a 20th-century pantile roof. The building has two storeys and two bays. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with a fanlight, set within a doorcase that has attached columns supporting dosserets with paterae and a deeply corniced open pediment. Throughout the house, there are four-pane sash windows in flush wood architraves. The stone sills and stretcher arches are cambered on the ground floor and flat on the first floor. The eaves have a stepped cornice, and there are narrow shaped kneelers with ashlar gable coping. The house has end stacks, with the right stack being external and both stacks positioned forward of the ridge. The interior has not been inspected.
