Description
Nos 47 to 55 on Frenchgate are a range of late 18th-century buildings that are rough rendered. They are two storeys high with a basement, featuring a mix of stone slates and modern slates for the roofing. No 49 has two dormers, No 51 has one, and No 53 has three dormers. The buildings sit on a high ashlar plinth and have ten windows with moulded wood frames, all with glazing bars except for No 47. The doors are six-panel designs set in plain reveals with plain stone frames, and each door has a four-paned rectangular fanlight, with No 51 featuring Gothick glazing. There are steps with iron handrails leading up to the doors, and basement grilles are present as well. Nos 47 to 55 form a group.
