Description
Manor House is a house located on Manor Road in Stutton with Hazlewood, dated 1697, with later additions and alterations. It is reputedly built for James Heptonstall. The building is constructed of random coursed magnesian limestone and features a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and three bays. The entrance is off-centre, featuring a studded plank door set within a chamfered surround with a massive lintel. The outer bays have 4-pane sash windows with ashlar quoined jambs, stone sills, and tooled lintels. The centre bay on the first floor has a fire window within a double chamfered surround. The roof is hipped to the left, with ashlar coping and a kneeler on the right, and a ridge stack. Inside, there are some chamfered ceiling beams and plank doors on the ground floor, as well as a dog-leg staircase with oak vase-on-bobbin balusters.
