Description
Grimston Lodge is a house built in the early 19th century, with later additions and alterations, commissioned by Lord Londesborough. It is constructed from magnesian limestone ashlar and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has a double-pile plan and stands two storeys high with five bays, including a later addition on the left side. There is a plinth at the base, and the central entrance consists of a part-glazed door with an overlight, framed by an architrave and topped with a pediment. The windows are 12 and 16-pane sashes, each with stone sills and set under flat arches. A modillion eaves band runs along the roofline, which is hipped with ridge and end stacks. On the right return, there is another entrance that features a Doric portico, complete with a frieze and a dentilled pediment.
