Description
The lodge, gates, walls, railings, and piers to the north of the house at Grimston Park Estate were built around 1840 by Decimus Burton for Lord Londesborough. They are constructed from magnesian limestone ashlar and feature wrought-iron gates and railings. The lodges are square in plan, single storey, and consist of a single bay. Each has a side entrance with a part-glazed door that is sheltered by a hood. The corners are accentuated with pilasters, and the sides include round-arched niches with aprons. A cornice runs along the top, and the stepped roof is topped with a kneeling figure of a warrior. The ornamental carriage gates, which also include pedestrian gates on the sides, have two levels of rails and decorative cresting. The ornamental railings curve around to rusticated piers that feature a cornice and ball finial. Additional railings are present on a low wall leading to the rusticated end piers.
