Description
The building known as the Manege, located to the north-east of the house at Grimston Park Estate, is a Grade II listed structure dating from around 1840, with later alterations. It was designed by Decimus Burton for the second Lord Howden. The building is constructed of magnesian limestone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof.
It stands two storeys high and has nine bays, with a central three-bay pedimented section that projects forward. The entrance is on the south side, featuring a plank door with a fanlight set within a projecting arched surround. The main facade includes a plinth, and the ground floor has casement windows that are irregularly spaced. The first floor has a band that supports Diocletian windows with ashlar surrounds, some of which are blocked. The central bay features arcaded round-headed recesses. The building is topped with overhanging eaves, a cornice, and a hipped roof.
