Description
The stable block to the east of Grimston Park House is a Grade II listed building, constructed around 1840 with later alterations. Designed by Decimus Burton for the second Lord Howden, this two-storey structure features a three-bay central section with a pediment, flanked by single-storey wings that also have three bays and central pedimented dormers.
The ground floor showcases a segment-arched arcade with an impost band, which contains stable doors; the end doors have overlights. There are 16-pane sash and casement windows, and all openings are segment-arched. On the first floor, the central range has six-pane sash windows. The building is topped with an open pediment that includes a central blind oculus and a moulded cornice. The wings have a low parapet that is interrupted by dormer attics featuring pitching doors and moulded pediments, and the structure is finished with ashlar coping. There are side stacks on the central range.
