Description

This is a crescent of houses built between 1881 and 1886 by George Dawson. Numbers 3 to 25, Swan Road, form a group of three-storey houses, each with two windows. The houses include a semi-basement and have slate roofs with projecting eaves brackets. They are constructed of grit stone ashlar with sill bands. The windows are recessed sash windows with simple surrounds, with splayed bays on the ground floor. Each pair of houses is linked by a slate tented canopy with a carved eaves band. The raised entrances feature fanlights and panelled doors. Numbers 3 to 29 (odd) are considered to form a cohesive group.
