Description

No 188 on High Street is a house that has been converted into a cafe. It dates from the early to mid-18th century and has undergone some alterations over the years. The building is constructed of painted brick in Flemish bond and features an artificial stone slate roof. It stands three stories tall and has three bays. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front. The first and second floors are adorned with sash windows that have flush exposed sash boxes; the second floor windows are half-size and feature projecting ashlar sills and keystones. A cornice runs along the top, and there is a brick end stack on the right side. At the back, there is a gabled rear wing that is of the same age as the front range.
