Description
Zion United Reformed Church is a Congregational chapel, now serving as a United Reformed Church, built in 1819 with later alterations. The church is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond and features a plain tile roof. It has two storeys and three bays, with a plinth at the base. The central bay includes a single-storey flat-roofed projecting porch, which has a six-panel door with a fanlight set in a keyed round arch, complete with an impost band and sunken panels in the brickwork, topped by a cornice. Each bay features a recessed round-arched panel with an impost band, and there are round-arched windows with ashlar sills on both floors. The building is capped with a cornice and a blocking course, and it has a hipped roof. At the rear, there is a lower vestry range that was added in the early to mid-20th century, which is not of special interest. The side elevations consist of two bays, each with two round-arched windows, one of which is blind. To the west of the church is a small burial ground.
