Description

AISLABY STREET LANE SE 78 SE (south side, off) 11/8 Wythe Syke Farmhouse and attached barn II - Farmhouse and attached barn. Mid-late C18 with C19 alteration and extension. Red brick in stretcher bond with sandstone plinth, quoins and dressings; pantile roof with brick stacks. Central entrance, 1 ½ rooms deep, with rear service wing added. 2 storeys, 3 windows with 1 ½-storey, 3-bay barn to left. C20 house door with overlight. Window over door blocked; all remaining windows 2-light, 12-pane horizontal-sliding sashes. Tripartite extended lintels with triple keyblocks to all openings. Raised sill bands to both floors. Cavetto-moulded eaves cornice. Coped gables and shaped kneelers. End stacks. Barn: bays articulated by buttresses with sandstone offsets. Squared loft openings to end bays. Dentilled eaves course. Coped gable and shaped kneeler to left. Rear buttressed as at front. Dentilled eaves course to both house and barn. House in dilapidated condition at time of resurvey.
