Description

Middleton House and the attached garage are a house and coach-house, now serving as a house and garage. They were built in the early 19th century and extended and altered in the late 19th century. The front is made of hammer-dressed sandstone with chamfered quoins and sandstone ashlar dressings, while the rear is constructed from coursed rubble with flush quoins. The roofs are slate with brick stacks.

The building has a central-entry plan with a service wing on the side. It is two stories high with an attic and features a three-window main front, along with a two-storey, two-window wing to the right and the garage further to the right. The central door has four recessed panels and an overlight, topped by a bracketed cornice hood. There are later 19th-century canted bays on either side of the door, with small windows added at the ends. The first floor has four-pane sash windows, while the attic features two-light casements. The central window on the first floor has a raised surround, and all windows have keyed wedge lintels. Sill bands are present on the upper floors, and there are end stacks. The wing has a door with four recessed panels and an overlight, along with four-pane sash windows on the right and first floor, all with keyed wedge lintels and a sill band on the first floor. The right end has a stack, and the garage has double doors beneath a chamfered segmental arch.
