Description

Werth Farm and the attached barn comprise a farmhouse and barn with historical elements dating from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. The farmhouse features square-panelled timber-framing with struts and rendered brick infill, topped with a red tile roof that was likely once thatched, along with brick stacks. The barn is weather-boarded and has a corrugated iron roof, which also was probably thatched in the past. The main body of the farmhouse is L-shaped, with the barn attached to the north, creating a roughly T-shaped layout. Extensions from the 18th and 19th centuries on the farmhouse are not considered of special interest. The farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, which is illuminated by a 20th-century single-light garret window. The fenestration is irregular, primarily featuring 2-light casements from the 19th and 20th centuries. There is a glazed 20th-century door leading to the garden and an early plank door within a 20th-century glazed porch on the gable end facing the farmyard. The farmhouse has a projecting gable end and lateral stacks. The interior of the farmhouse and barn has not been inspected. The barn contains four full cruck trusses with two collars towards the south and post and truss cross frames at the north end.
