Description
Rose Cottage is a detached house that has been divided into two occupations. It dates from the 17th century and the 20th century. The building features square-panelled timber-framing with bracing and rendered brick infill. It has a concrete tile roof, which was formerly thatched. The original L-shaped core of the house is complemented by a 20th-century timber-framed extension that is set back and extends to the right of the main body.
The facade, viewed from the north, has 1½ to 2 storeys. It includes a single-light flat-roofed dormer from the left wing of the main body and a gabled 3-light timber-framed dormer from the 20th-century extension. The windows are a mix of 1 and 2-light casements from the 19th and 20th centuries, some with glazing bars and some without. To the left-hand wing, there is a 19th-century plank door topped with a single pitched-plank hood. The house features two projecting brick stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
