Description
Mealy Syke and the adjoining barn are a farmhouse and barn built in the mid-18th century. The structure features limestone rubble walls with through stones at different levels and red sandstone flush quoins. It has a graduated greenslate roof with brick chimney stacks set on stone bases. The farmhouse is two storeys high with two bays, while the barn has three bays under a common roof. The central entrance of the farmhouse has a 20th-century door within a painted stone surround. There are two-light flat stone-mullioned windows and a small blocked window above the entrance. The barn includes a front overall pent extension. At the rear of the house, there is a door on the right and two-light flat stone-mullioned windows, all framed in painted stone surrounds. The rear of the barn features a left flattened segmental-arched cart entrance, a left flat-headed doorway, and a right segmental-headed doorway.
