Description
Holly Cottage is a cottage ornée dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features 20th-century rendering and a stone slate roof. The building is one storey high with attics and consists of two bays, with an additional bay extension to the rear on the left and an outshut to the rear on the right. The cottage has quoins and a central boarded door that has a fluted shell motif in the upper part, topped with a shallow pointed arch. Above the door is a small square window, and there is a gabled porch with cusped barge boards. The cottage has flanking canted-bay windows, each with shallow hipped roofs. A stack with three shafts and tall red chimney pots is located behind the ridge on the left, while a similar two-flue chimney is found at the right gable end. The left return features a four-pane cross-window on the ground floor and a small attic window above. The gable ends are adorned with ornate cusped barge boards. There are notable similarities between Holly Cottage and West Lodge.
