Description
Nos 10 and 12 Yarm Lane are a farmhouse and cottage, now two separate dwellings, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. They are constructed from finely-coursed squared tooled sandstone. The roofs have been renewed with modern clay pantiles and feature stone stacks and dressings. The buildings are two storeys high and consist of five bays in total.
No 12, the farmhouse section, has a six-panel door with an overlight, set within an early Victorian pilaster-and-entablature surround. No 10 has a four-panel door in a similar style. The windows of No 12 are 16-pane sashes framed in wood architraves. No 10 features a 19th-century canted bay window with altered glazing on the ground floor, and 20th-century pivoted windows above. The stone gable copings and kneelers, along with stacks at the ends and junction, add to the architectural interest. No 10 is noted for its group value with No 12.
