Description
No. 72 Longwestgate is a late 18th-century building that stands two storeys high with an attic and a basement. It is constructed of red brick and features a thin, painted string course at the first floor level. The roof is gable-ended and covered with pantiles, and there is a dormer window. The building has a Rood entablature with a bracketed cornice. The front has three windows, which are framed with flush architraves and retain their glazing bars. The entrance is located on the left side and consists of a door with six fielded panels and a rectangular fanlight above it. This door is framed by a Doric doorcase and is accessed by a flight of six steps that has 19th-century iron railings along the area. Originally, the building had a five-bay front. No. 68 and Nos. 72 to 76 (even) form a group.
