Description

The cross located approximately 40 metres north-east of Wykeham Abbey dates from the 19th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. It stands about 4.5 metres high on a base of three steps. The tall pedestal features an inscription that reads: "This cross marks the site of the altar of the Church of All Saints which church was taken down AD 1853 and rebuilt upon the site of an ancient and desecrated church to the north of the village." Atop the pedestal is a moulded Celtic cross on a tall tapering shaft, which has flat volutes at its base.
