Description

Nos 23 and 24 in Wykeham Village are a pair of houses built in 1849 for the Wykeham Estate. The front is made of dressed sandstone, featuring chamfered sandstone ashlar quoins and a slate roof. Each house has a central entry plan and is two stories high with a four-window front. Both cottages have central four-panel doors with divided overlights, and 16-pane sash windows with stone sills throughout. All openings have heavy plain lintels. A datestone inscribed "M D L 1849" is located at the center of the first floor. The houses have coped gables and shaped kneelers, with end and center stacks.
