Description
40 and 41 Wykeham Village are a pair of cottages built in 1765, as indicated by a datestone. The front is made of dressed sandstone, while the rear has rendered extensions. The cottages have a pantile roof with rebuilt brick stacks. They are two stories high with a four-window front. The current entrances are located in the rear extensions. Each end of the ground floor features two unequal 12-pane sash windows, and there are four 2-light, small-pane casements on the first floor in corresponding positions. All windows have renewed sills and tripartite keyed lintels. The datestone inscribed "MK 1765" is located at the center of the first floor. The cottages have coped gables and kneelers, with stacks at the ends and left of center. They are included for their group value.
