Description

Pear Tree House is an early 18th-century house located on the west side of Middleham Market Place. The house is built of rubble with a Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high, with three first-floor windows. Windows on the first floor are 6-pane casements in chamfered stone surrounds. The ground floor has a 6-panel door with a 3-pane overlight in a moulded eared surround in bay two. Bay three features a projecting square bay window with sash windows containing glazing bars, and a pent roof made of artificial slate. Above the bay window, there are 24-pane sash windows in ashlar surrounds with keystones. Plain gutter brackets are present. Weathered shaped kneelers and ashlar coping remain, along with a corniced ashlar stack at the left end and between bays two and three. In the return gables, there are double-chamfered mullion windows. Railings outside are associated with Millers’ House, which is a separate listed building.
