Description
The lodge to Thicket Priory was built between 1844 and 1847, reusing early 18th century brick for the lower part and featuring 20th century additions and alterations that are not of special interest. Designed by Edward Blore, it is constructed of pinkish-orange brick with a Welsh slate roof and has a cruciform plan. The building is two storeys high, with each side having a single bay. The entrance is located in a 20th century infill at the left corner and features a six-fielded panel door.
On the ground floor, there are 16-pane sash windows under cambered heads, mostly with moulded ashlar sills. The front facade originally contained the entrance, which has since been infilled. The first floor features 12-pane sliding sashes with ashlar sills that interrupt a single course band, and each bay is topped with a pediment. A ridge stack is present on the roof.
