Description
West Cottingwith Hall is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of pinkish-brown brick with red brick dressings and features a pantile roof. The building has a square plan with a central hallway and is two storeys high, comprising three bays. At the front, there is a plinth and a flight of late 20th-century steps leading to a glazed door, which is framed by a decorative overlight in a late 20th-century surround. The windows are unequally-hung 15-pane sashes with flat arches made of gauged brick. A three-course band runs along the first floor, and there is a dentil eaves band. The roof is hipped with a central well and has ridge stacks.
Inside, there is an 18th-century openwell staircase featuring ridon vase balusters. It is also reputed to have one room with 18th-century panelling.
