Description
The stables to Thorganby Hall, now used as offices, were likely built around 1822 and have undergone some alterations in the late 20th century. They are constructed from pinkish-brown brick with red brick dressings and feature a grey slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has twelve openings on the first floor.
The ground floor includes an off-centre entrance with a six-panel door and overlight, set beneath a flat arch made of red rubbed brick. To the left of the entrance is a plank stable door with an overlight, along with two additional blocked doorways that now have nine-pane casement windows, all positioned under flat arches of red rubbed brick. There is also evidence of further blocked openings to the right, with the remaining sections featuring multi-paned casement windows.
On the first floor, there are twelve oculi, each framed in red brick, with two of them featuring patterned brick infill, while the others have plate glass. The building is topped with a ridge and end stack, and it has ashlar coping and kneelers. The stables are included for their group value with Thorganby Hall.
