Description

The Old Ship Inn is a house dating from the mid-18th century, although it has earlier origins. It is constructed of red brick, which has been rendered and formerly colour-washed, and has a pantiled roof. The building follows a centre-lobby entry plan and has two storeys and three bays. The ground floor has a 20th-century glazed door with an overlight, flanked by 16-pane sash windows with sills and boarded shutters. Above are three sliding sash windows with glazing bars. A dentilled brick eaves cornice runs around the building, and there are end and axial stacks with plain close verges. The interior retains many original features, including a large inglenook fireplace with an oak bressumer. The rendering likely conceals a timber frame.
