Description
This building is a barn located approximately 30 metres southeast of Grange Farmhouse. It dates from the late 13th century to the early 19th century and serves as a cartshed and stable. The structure is made of coursed chalk on a brick plinth, featuring tumbled brick gables that have been whitewashed, along with whitewashed brick dressings and a pantile roof.
The barn consists of a 3-bay cartshed with a pair of stables on the left side. It is 1½ storeys high. There are two ground floor openings on the left, which are set under segmental headed brick arches, and three upper openings on the right, framed in quoined brick surrounds. All openings have timber slats. A pitching door is located on the right gable, accessed by a flight of 20th-century steps. At the rear, there are brick piers supporting the cart arches, and a stepped brick eaves course adds to the architectural detail.
