Description
A farmhouse, now two houses, and attached barn, likely dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, and restored from a derelict state in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof. It is L-shaped, with one wing projecting to the street. The front features large quoins, a string course at the first-floor level, gutter brackets, gable coping, and kneelers. The section set back from the street has, on the ground floor, a three-light wooden mullion casement window within a chamfered surround, and a chamfered doorway. The first floor has a large, modern two-light stone mullion window set within an older surround, a sash window with glazing bars, and a completely modern window. The projecting wing also has a chamfered doorway, and to its left, a chamfered window with a broad sash window containing glazing bars. Above this is a two-light sash window also set within an old recess. The rear elevation features a double-chamfered stone mullion window, now lacking its original mullions. On the first floor, there is a small chamfered cupboard window. The stable has been integrated into the house, but the barn and shippon remain as originally built, separated by a cross wall and accessible by separate chamfered doorways. Group value: This building contributes to the wider historic character of the area.
