Village Hall and Caretaker's House Adjoining

The Village Hall and caretaker's house, built in 1910, is located in Ingleby Arncliffe, designed by Sir Ambrose Poynter for Sir Hugh Bell. The building features finely herringbone-tooled sandstone with pantiled roofs, complemented by lead and copper cupola cladding.

The structure consists of a single storey with three and a half bays, along with a set-back porch on the right. The caretaker's house on the left is one and a half storeys with two bays. The hall's porch has a wide round-arched opening with a flush door, leading to a washroom and kitchen behind, which has a separate hipped roof. The main hall is adorned with three- and four-light chamfered mullioned windows that include wood transoms and leaded casements. There are flat buttress bay divisions and a prominent buttress at the left end. A half-bay under the half-hip of the roof on the right features a blank panel on the front and a four-panel door on the right return. The gable end showcases a large lunette. The roof has exposed rafter ends, and the ridge cupola has a square leaded base, an arched open bell stage, and a square ogee copper dome topped with a vane.

The caretaker's house has a central glazed door beneath a pediment, flanked by 12-pane sash windows. To the right, there is a passage entrance with a boarded door under a grille. The house features two raking dormers with two- and three-light casements on the eaves, and a large central brick stack with rebated corners. There is also a small one-storey brick extension on the left with a hip-ended roof.

Inside the hall, there are three bays with an open roof supported by two queen-post trusses with through-purlins and some windbraces. The central bay has paired collar-purlins that support the framing of the cupola. The walls are plastered, and there are half-glazed six-panel doors throughout.
