Description

The aqueduct at Priest Holme, built around 1790, carries the Leeds and Liverpool Canal over the River Aire. It was designed by engineer Robert Whitworth and is constructed of dressed stone. The structure features three semicircular arches with raised vousoirs, and the spandrels are in a flat plane. The solid parapet is curved in plan and is crossed by a band, with piers located at the abutments.
