Description

The Anchor Lock on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, built around 1790, was designed by engineer Robert Whitworth. It is constructed of dressed stone and features retaining walls that are rebated for two sets of gates. The upper gates are now made of steel, while the lower gates are wooden.
