Description
This is a barn or granary located approximately 7 metres to the north-west of Crakehall House, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of rubblestone with ashlar and brick dressings, topped with a pantile roof and has two storeys with scattered bays.
On the ground floor, there is a lower one-storey gabled wing at right angles to the barn on the right side. To the left of this wing, steps lead up to a granary door on the first floor. To the left of the steps, there are three board doors set under brick segmental arches. On the first floor, to the left of the granary door, there are three blocked openings with two brick piers between them, and the central opening features a board door.
The right return of the barn has a square dovecote opening with a keyed lintel at the gable, and the structure is finished with stone coping. This barn is included for its group value with Crakehall House.
