Description
Hawdene and Little Garth are two cottages located on the north side of The Green in Craakehall, dating from the late 18th century with later alterations. The buildings are constructed of stone, with rendered surfaces, and feature pantile and machine tile roofs.
Hawdene is a two-storey structure with a symmetrical elevation comprising three bays. It has a central half-glazed door that is flanked by 16-pane side-sliding sash windows. On the first floor, there are 12-pane side-sliding sash windows, and all windows have stone sills. The cottage features shaped kneelers, stone coping, and end stacks, topped with a pantile roof.
Little Garth, located to the right, is a shorter, two-storey building with two bays. It has a 20th-century glazed door set within a 20th-century gabled porch in the right-hand bay. All windows are 12-pane side-sliding sashes with stone sills, and there is an end stack to the right. The cottages are included for their group value.
