Description

These are a pair of cottages, likely dating from the 18th century. They are two storeys high with attics, and include three modern dormers. The cottages are constructed of coursed stone, which has been repointed. They have a pantile roof, with some areas newly cemented, and two stacks, one of which is modern. Each cottage has a single window: a modern three-light window at number 20, a modern bow window at number 21, and a casement window at number 22. Stone lintels are above two modern doors and a plain door.

Numbers 20 and 22 form part of a larger group of buildings (numbers 1 to 22, 23A and 23B, 24 to 29, a storage premises to the left of numbers 28 and 29, 30 to 37, 37A, and numbers 38 to 69) which are recognised for their local interest. Other buildings, including numbers 11 and 12, 17 to 19, the storage premises to the left of 28 and 29, numbers 37 and 37A, 38 and 39, 41, and 65 to 69 also contribute to the group. A separate group also includes numbers 1 to 4 and the Wesleyan Day School.
