Description
Cholmley School, dated 1868, is a two-storey building with attics constructed in ashlar. It features a gable facing the road topped with a finial. The gable includes a small circular window with a quatrefoil design and a dripmould. On the first floor, there is a two-light sash window with glazing bars and a dripmould, along with an inscription stating, "This school was built by Mrs Hannah Cholmley 1868." The ground floor has a window with two lights separated by a half-column with a foliated capital, a dripmould over a quatrefoil light in the window's head, and a string course at the cill. The lancet arched doorway is flanked by half-columns with foliated capitals and features a dripmould with foliated terminals. The door consists of six carved panels with prominent iron hinges. There have been alterations to the rear of the building. This structure is included for its group value.
