Description
High Woodside Farmhouse is a farmhouse likely dating from the later 17th century, with some alterations. The front is constructed of hammer-dressed stone while the back is made of rubble, topped with a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has a two-unit plan with stairs located at the rear. It features quoins, and on the ground floor, there are unmoulded 19th-century windows. The first floor has two-light chamfered stone mullion windows that have been converted to sashes without glazing bars. The doorway has monolithic jambs and a cambered head. At the rear, there are two chamfered stone mullion windows, one of which is missing its mullion.
Inside, on the left side, there is a large segmental fireplace with a lintel that is grooved to mimic voussoirs, supporting two beams. The pantry contains stone shelves and an 8-panel door that is of 17th-century style. Several doors within the house feature six raised and fielded panels with cock's head hinges. The roof is supported by two heavy trusses with trenched purlins.
