Description

This is a cross located in the graveyard approximately 12 metres south of the Church of St James in Baldersby St James. It was built between 1856 and 1858 by the architect William Butterfield. The cross is made of stone and features a fleurée design with a central boss and pierced arms. It stands on an octagonal shaft that is set on a square two-stage plinth, which has sunk quatrefoil and cinquefoil panels. The same style of cross is also found in the keystone of the church porch and in some gravestones nearby.
