Description
No 1 Market Place is a building that originally served as two houses and is now an estate agency. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and is constructed of brick that has been painted over, topped with a stone slate roof. The building stands three storeys high and features two first-floor windows with quoins at the corners.
On the ground floor, there is a central half-glazed four-panel door, flanked by modern bowed shop windows. To the far left, there is an original six-panel door with a traceried overlight set within a stone architrave. The first and second floors contain sash windows with projecting sills and keyed lintels. There are decorative bands at the first and second-floor levels, and the building is finished with a dentilled eaves cornice and an end stack on the left side.
