Description
30 and 31 Blossomgate are a pair of houses built in the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. They are constructed of red brick, which is rendered and colour-washed, and feature a slate roof with two rendered chimneys. The southwest front has four bays. On the left, there is a 19th-century wooden canted bay window with plain sash windows. To the right, there is a round-headed doorway with a 20th-century door and fanlight, surrounded by pilasters and topped with a flat hood. Beyond this is a projecting lean-to addition with a central doorway and a 19th-century glazed door, flanked by pairs of plain sash windows. Above, there are four plain sash windows with painted wedge lintels and slightly raised keystones, and above those, there are four smaller sash windows of a similar style.
No 31, which is part of this pair, was built in the early 19th century and is finished in stucco. It has a slate roof and stands three storeys tall with two bays. The windows are sashes with channelled stucco voussoirs. The ground floor features a canted bay window with sashes and a moulded cornice. The door has a semi-circular fanlight with glazing bars and is set in a wooden doorcase with a simple cornice.
