Description

Popescroft and Littlehurst are a pair of houses, originally built in the early 19th century and later extended in the 19th century. The houses are constructed of painted stucco, scored to resemble ashlar, with an oversailing slate hipped roof. The plan is rectangular, with two rooms in depth and extensions to the rear.

The houses are two storeys high and feature two rendered chimneys with cornices and clay pots. They have a plinth and bracketed eaves. Sash windows are present throughout, with those on the first floor having glazing bars. The south-east front is symmetrical, with four bays. The first-floor windows are set within bracketed, moulded architraves. The central doorway has a two-panel door and a tripartite overlight, all within an architrave and bracketed flat hood. Flanked by the door are three-light canted bay windows with two-pane sashes, moulded cornices, and flat roofs. The right return has a 20th-century window on the first floor, within a bracketed, moulded architrave, and a 20th-century panelled door with a pediment above, with a moulded roundel to each floor. A further extension is set back on the left-hand side. The interior of the houses has not been inspected.
