Description
The Old Rectory is a house built in the mid to late 18th century, which was later extended to double its size in the early to mid 19th century and re-roofed as a single range. The 18th-century section is made of sandstone and red-brown brick, while the 19th-century section features pale brown brick. The building has an overhanging pantile roof and stands two storeys tall, facing south.
The garden front consists of six bays in total, with the three right bays belonging to the original 18th-century house. The entrance features a half-glazed door set within a hood doorcase that has consoles and a pediment. To the right is an early 19th-century two-storey bow with tripartite sash windows that include glazing bars. The sash windows in the 18th-century section have wide timber lintels, while the 19th-century part has flat brick arches. The 18th-century section also includes a brick plinth and a stepped three-course band at the first floor level.
