Description
Bridge House Cottages is a public house that has been converted into a house in multiple occupation. It dates from the mid-18th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. It is double-depth and has two storeys with a symmetrical three-bay facade, which originally included quoins.
The central doorway has a glazed door, an overlight, and a wedge-shaped lintel that is cut with false voussoirs. The windows in each bay have similar lintels and are fitted with 16-pane sashes in flush wood architraves. The first bay on the ground floor has been altered to include a projecting wooden-framed bay window. The building has gable stacks. Originally known as the Ship Inn, it later became a private residence. It is included in the listing for its group value.
