Description
The Dolphin Fountain, located to the west of Harewood House, was built between 1847 and 1848. It was created during the same period as the work on the South Terrace by Sir Charles Barry and Nesfield for the 3rd Earl of Harewood. The fountain features a basin made of Rousham Hill stone from Oxfordshire, with a carved freestone sculpture. It has an octagonal shape with raised moulded edging and a finely-coursed stone basin. At the center, there is a drum that supports a sculpture of three dolphins, whose tails encircle a taller shell.
