Description
The Ice House at Harewood Park is an icehouse built around 1760, likely designed by John Carr of York for Edwin Lascelles. It is constructed of ashlar sandstone with a brick lining. The structure features a circular stone wall topped with ashlar coping and a domed roof. The entrance passage is made of brick and has a rounded roof. Inside, there is a deep, brick-lined cylindrical ice chamber with an elliptical arched doorway. The short entrance passage has brick walls and a barrel vault, leading to a round arched doorway with a plank door. The icehouse was restored in the late 20th century.
