Description
The Hollies is a house dating from the early 19th century that incorporates parts of a 17th-century house at the rear. The front is made of dressed sandstone, while the sides and rear are constructed from coursed sandstone. It features ashlar lintels and a pantile roof with brick stacks. The house has a central-stairhall plan and is one room deep, with a two-storey, three-window front. The central entrance has a glazed door with an overlight set in a plain pedimented door-case. Throughout the building, there are 16-pane sash windows with stone sills and wedge lintels. The end stacks rise through a hipped roof. Inside, the ground-floor room on the left has fluted architraves with paterae around the door and two segmental-arched alcoves. Additionally, a finely carved panelled spice cupboard is preserved in the rear lobby.
