Description

This is a terrace of four houses located on Langton Road in Norton-on-Derwent. Built in 1855, the terrace has undergone later alterations. The houses are constructed of variegated brick in a double Flemish bond; number 10 is whitewashed. Red brick is used for dressings, with a timber eaves cornice and a slate roof. The building has a three-storey, eight-window front. Each house features a four-panel door with a bordered overlight, set within a doorcase consisting of pilasters and an entablature. Ground-floor windows are largely canted bays with 6- and 12-pane sashes; number 16 on the left features a later inserted two-storey bay with single-pane sashes. Remaining windows are 12-pane sashes with segmental arches, quoined jambs, and a raised sill band to the first floor; the second-floor windows have painted stone sills. The central, centre-left, and centre-right sections of the roof have ridge stacks. The eaves of the central houses have a modillion detail.
