Description
No 1 Old Market Place, which includes No 1 St Ann's Staith, is an early 19th-century building. It stands four storeys tall and is curved to fit the site, constructed of grey brick. The building features a heavy stone cornice and parapet. The window arrangement is 1-3-1, with double-hung sashes that have glazing bars. The top floor windows are adorned with moulded architraves. The first floor windows are enhanced by a frieze and cornice supported by consoles, with a band continuing across the cills. The ground floor showcases a vermiculated rusticated doorway with a keystone, leading to a six-panel door topped by a semi-circular fanlight. The shop front, primarily from the 19th century, was formerly part of a public house and includes plain pilasters, a fascia, and a cornice. This building forms a group with No 1 Baxtergate.
