Description

This is a milepost located approximately 100 metres north of Stocks Mill, dated 1825. It is made of cast iron and has a half-hexagonal shape with fluted faces and a domed cap. The panel on the left side indicates "SHAP/13/MILES," while the panel on the right side reads "KENDAL/5/MILES." The date is displayed in the center. This milepost is part of a series of similar mileposts along the Heron Syke to Eamont Bridge turnpike road, established in 1756.
