Description
Lowbyer Manor Hotel is a large house, now functioning as a hotel, built at right angles to the road in the late 18th century. The building features coursed, squared rubble with quoins on a chamfered plinth and is lime-washed. It has a graduated slate roof with stone copings and end chimneys, with the east chimney projecting. The symmetrical south elevation has five bays, is two storeys high, and includes a basement. There is a narrow central door with a rectangular fanlight, accessed by steps. The sash windows, all with glazing bars except those in the basement, complement the design. At the rear, a central stair window has a 4-centred head, and a shallow gabled projection to the right is supported on brackets. An adjoining former barn range on the north side, which is now part of the hotel, has had doors and windows inserted in 1983.
