Description

Levens Bridge over the River Kent is a bridge that likely dates back to the 17th century. It was widened and extensively repaired and rebuilt during the 18th and 19th centuries. The bridge is constructed from limestone rubble and features roughly-cut voussoirs. It has two arches with cutwaters in between and flat sandstone coping on the parapets. At the southwest corner, it is attached to the walls and gatepiers that mark the entrance to Levens Hall. Further information can be found in "Records of Kendal Volume III" by J.F. Curwen, published by Titus Wilson in 1920.
